Solomon Islands Health Research Symposium
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) will host the national 2017 Health Research Symposium in Honiara on 27th to 29th November 2017. The Symposium will be supported by Solomon Islands National University (SINU) and James Cook University (JCU).
The Symposium will provide a platform for health workers and participants to present research activities/findings and exchange ideas, build support, strengthen capacities and foster collaboration in driving sustainable action on national priority issues in health research.
On Wednesday, 29 November there will be a Workshop facilitated by JCU/AHRG researchers: Research Design and Methodology.

Creating Futures 2017
From 17-23 September 2017, three members of the Atoifi Health Research Group will travel to Suva, Fiji to lead discussions about community-based research and Pacific approaches to mental health.
James Asugeni, Mental Health Nurse, Atoifi Hospital, will mentor fellow mental health workers gathering to participate in the 7-day Leadership in Mental Health course, which is running alongside of the Creating Futures Conference.
Mr Humpress Harrington, PhD Candidate, James Cook University and Dr Michelle Redman-MacLaren, JCU/CQUniversity, will also mentor in the Leadership in Mental Health course and share their experiences of strengthening community-based research in Pacific contexts.
